Studio portraits

One of the many reasons it's good to have a studio is that you can photograph in any kind of weather.  Last winter, when it was cold and dreary out, some siblings and cousins came together for a photo session in the studio.  The kids were lots of fun and we got some great images.

This girl visited the studio, as well.  Her pink shirt was so lively and bright, just like her personality!

Celebrations

This summer, a special couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury.  Their friends and family came and we captured some beautiful images for them.

All their guests gathered outside before lunch for a group photograph.  What a wonderful celebration.

Last spring, a local furniture maker asked me if I could help her build her portfolio and create some images that she could submit to an art jury.  I gladly helped her and we spent a busy morning bringing out the character of each piece.  Check out these neat images!

Garden Portraits

These two boys visited in June.

My portrait garden got a lot of use this year.  From babies to teens and even grown men, I've photographed every age group in this beautiful space.  It has been landscaped to look good from early spring to late fall and I can even get a good photo there in the dead of winter!  Check out these portraits:

There are many different seating areas in the garden for good and completely different lighting and backgrounds, no matter the season or the time of day.

This close-up captures their fun-loving personalities.

"Burrito" girl!  This girl was extra happy when her Dad wrapped her up in my fleece portrait blanket.  She looked very cozy.

She changed into a cute jumper for more photos in my shade garden. 

These kids wanted to surprise their Mom with a portrait of themselves.  We started in the studio....

then went to the garden for a few more images.  What fun kids!

This family also enjoyed the garden, in addition to the studio for their portrait session.  Here they are on the back patio, looking toward the garden beyond.

CycleKids... fighting childhold obesity with bikes

In May, I had the opportunity to help a local charity, Cycle Kids.  They "promote healthy lifestyle choices by introducing kids to the joy of bicycling and educating them about bike safety and nutrition. We empower children to develop positive, safe, and active lifelong habits."

The Cycle Kids Breakaway charity ride was held on a beautiful spring day in Lincoln, MA.  Cyclists  chose one of three different routes that wound around the surrounding towns.  It was a complete success and I am proud to have helped them capture so many images from the day.

A sampling of head shots for executives and actors/actresses

Throughout the year, I'm often asked to photograph a "head shot" for someone.  This could be for a newly appointed executive, an actress's portfolio, or when a company is renewing their marketing and need new images of their employees and executives.  Each job is a little bit different and requires knowing how and where the image will be used.  Sometimes, I have to copy the style of photographs taken of other executives.  Other times, I have great freedom to create something unique for my client.

Here are some of my favorites:

These two men are presidents of a local country club.

They were fun to photograph and we captured some great images.

Maureen is an aspiring actress and needed a headshot for her portfolio. The scarf was a good accessory for a different look.

 

 

 

Maureen tried out a few different outfits and accessories.  We decided this color sweater looked great with her hair.

These three executives came into the studio to update their head shots for their website. 

While here, we went outside and photographed them in the garden.  This environmental portrait will be a useful addition to their marketing materials.  It has a completely different look and feel from the studio images.

Great photo shoots this last year!

Things have been so busy here with work that I haven't had a chance to update my blog.  That's a good thing, I guess.  If you're too busy to post an update, then that means you have work to do!

I finally had a quiet day to go through some favorite images from the last year and reflect upon some very happy memories.  

In September, I had the privilege of photographing Dana and Linda's wedding.  Here are some of my favorites from their day:
