Garden Portrait
We took advantage of the lovely weather today to take some family portraits in a local backyard. The weather was warm and the sunlight and colors were fantastic.
This family was lots of fun. The girl wore her favorite dress and her brother dressed to compliment her.
Their dog was wonderfully behaved and stayed put for many different poses and photographs.
Finally, we finished with a sweet portrait of mother and daughter.

Studio session with family of four
A few weeks ago, I photographed this family of four in my studio. The kids were full of fun and we had a good time getting some great photographs of everyone. Some of my favorites are the ones with the parents posing with their children.
At the very end of the session, we took some extra photos of Dad holding his son upside down - generating LOTS of smiles!

Three Siblings in the Garden
Studio Session with two great kids
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing these two cute kids in my studio!
The girl's pigtails were irresistibly cute! I love how they turn up a bit at the ends.
We had a really fun time playing and taking great photos. The little boy brought his toy dino that his grandfather had made. What beautiful craftsmanship - and fun to play with, too! Roar!!!!

Another fun summer day in our garden
In mid-August, I had a really fun portrait session with two amazing little boys.
We started with some photos near the pond, culminating in this winner. The dog was great and the kids loved her!
Then, we pulled out the homemade fishing poles and did a little 'rock' fishing. We wondered if we really could catch any fish with the rock at the end of the line....
I love this photo. The boys were having such fun with their poles and this one seems to capture their personalities and the fun we were having.

Professional Photographers of New England Convention
I just returned from an exciting weekend in New Hampshire where the Professional Photographers of New England gathered for their annual convention and print competition. The two prints I entered won awards and will soon be hung in my studio for all to see. The image shown here is a cropped version of my competition print, "Dinner." Check out that poor spider crab!!!
I feel rejuvenated after listening to the speakers talk on subjects ranging from posing and lighting to new products, and the creativity that is possible with today's technology. Cameras have, of course, continued to get more advanced and are able to do more things for us, but it is only those photographers who have mastered their gear and lighting, and who know how to pose, compose, and how to create a powerful image who will continue to thrive in this business. I am so excited to get back in the studio and create some beautiful images!

Certified Professional Photographer!
It's true! I've just qualified for Re-certification of the Certified Professional Photographer designation from the Professional Photographic Certification Commission.
Here's the official press-release:
Bonnie Baker earned this designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring her artistic and technical competence. The Professional Photographic Certification Commission currently recognizes less than 2000 Certified Professional Photographers.
The Professional Photographic Certification Commission is the leading body for certifying imaging professionals. Certified Professional Photographers must complete a written examination, an image evaluation, and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. Certification must be renewed on a periodic basis, ensuring continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.
